Salt Lake City owns approximately 25% of the East Jordan Irrigation Company which sued Payson City to block the use of 38.5 shares of East Jordan Irrigation Company owned by Payson City.  Salt Lake City, and Salt Lake City’s Metropolitan Water District’s Provo River Water Users Association join in the suit against Payson City.  In 2004, Provo River Water Users Association again sued Payson City over use of water approved by the State Engineer.

Salt Lake City Public Utility Department Director is/was the Vice-president of East Jordan Irrigation Company.

Like many irrigation companies which follow the bloom and die cycle, East Jordan bloomed to irrigating about 10,000 acres and died off to irrigating about 1,500 acres. East Jordan Irrigation Company is back to blooming by expanding its service area and authorizing change applications.
