Questions for Council members:
-When will the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake & Sandy begin building the 370 feet high dam in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and the 410 feet high dam in Big Cottonwood Canyon?
-When will Salt Lake City begin using the million acre-feet of water in approved/pending applications & build the proposed about 20 hydro-electric power plants–two on Mill Creek, Parley’s Creek, SLC Sewer Outlet, Big Cottonwood Creek Moss Ledge, 2200 South & 700 East, Highland Drive & 3300 South, Highland Drive & 3900 South, 3300 South & 2000 East, 6400 south & 3010 East, 7400 South & 2700 East, 6200 South & Holladay Blvd., 3 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Jordan River, Sewer Treatment plant outlet, 1 Mile NE of Mt. (Note: After nearly a 100 years of power generation, Rocky Mountain Power decommissioned the hydroelectric plant in American Fork Canyon including part of a 12,000-foot long steel flowline through Timpanogos Cave National Monument in January 2008.)
-Why are moose allowed in the canyons but dogs are not?
-Does the City have a transparent water inventory?
-What can be done to obtain water rates more in line with Orem’s $0.55 per 1,000 gallons, 1.2 employees per 1,000 connections, versus City rates which are $1.14 to $3.28 per 1,000 gallons, 2.8 employees per 1,000 connections?
-How can the water department justify tiered billing rates to encourage conservation up to $3.28 per 1,000 gallons for county customers while selling “surplus” water to Wasatch County?
